The word "still life" should tell you something; it was a metaphor for my own. I could count on one hand the number of people who knocked on my door during all those years in Richmond. I found genuine company in the twisted forms of cigar smoke rising with the attendent shadows on the wall behind.
The playboy imagery I am not so proud of, I don't like working from other peoples photographs. There is a big difference in using someone elses photographs to ones own, which I now do constantly. The Playboy images here are fun and sold, but are superficial. The camera is now unavoidable to a painter if they do not want to become studio bound like so many painters these days.
