This is Jacob Epstein's sculpture entitiled Ecce Homo that is now installed in the ruins of Coventry Cathedral. Ecce Homo translates in the King James Bible as "Behold The Man". It portrays a scourged Christ bound and with a crown of thorns as paraded by Pontius Pilate before the mob.
This was sketched in situ in the biting cold. Epstein was particularly proud of this piece of carving but it remained unsold in his lifetime.
